Tavanta Therapeutics (Tavanta) is a clinical stage specialty pharmaceutical company developing a diverse pipeline of drugs that bring clinically meaningful benefits to patients with serious or debilitating diseases.  As we continue to grow and expand, there exists an immediate opportunity for a Senior Project Manager with technical and operational experience to join our Development Team based in the Philadelphia, PA area.   Reporting to the Chief Regulatory and Strategic Operations Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for working across the organization to develop, manage, and oversee project plans and timelines to align with project, portfolio and corporate strategies.  In addition, responsibilities of this role include working closely with Finance on budget preparation, forecasting, and planning, as well as across all functions including the Research Team located in Budapest, Hungary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Senior Project Manager, Operations will work directly with senior leadership to ensure the efficient and effective development and update of project plans, management of timelines, deliverables, and engagement on development and research programs
  • This is a highly visible role within the organization and the incumbent must be solution-oriented, flexible, and experienced in their approach to Project Management challenges in a small company
  • Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
    • Lead weekly project meetings with both Team and Leadership to review status, identify challenges, and present solutions to ensure alignment and adherence to timelines, budget, and corporate strategies
    • Plan/facilitate stage-gate meetings to manage active progression of portfolio
    • Work independently across all functions of the organization to develop comprehensive and interdependent timelines encompassing deliverables from both internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and contractors
  • Work with Finance and other functions on budget preparation, forecasting, and planning
  • Identify and capitalize on efficiencies to improve communication, collaboration and operational excellence throughout the organization with respect to project timelines and deliverables


Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors

Education and Experience

The candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in a scientific discipline (required) with pharmaceutical/biotechnology Project Management certification (preferred).  In addition, the candidate should have a minimum of 5 years direct experience working as a project manager in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry.  Additionally, the candidate should have a:

  • Thorough understanding and competencies working with and adapting Microsoft Excel and Smartsheet, as well as other project management tools
  • Extensive, demonstrated experience collaborating and partnering across functions and throughout levels of an organization (project team, management, and executive leadership) with examples of problem-solving skills and identifying efficiencies
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, work within a team environment, and collaborate effectively in a time-efficient manner
  • Strong oral, written, presentation, and negotiation skills required
  • Cultural awareness working with team, vendors, and stakeholders across countries

WOrk Environment

This position will be in the Philadelphia, PA headquarters location with the possibility of up to 10% domestic and global travel
